Sunday Shot: Experiencing Connection Lunch

Pastor Rocky at Experiencing Connection Lunch (ECL)

Pastor Rocky at Experiencing Connection Lunch (ECL)

Every six weeks or so we host ECL.  It’s a 2-wk class for those checking things out at Connection. It gives Pastor Rocky an opportunity to meet you (Rocky will remember your name the 2nd week — freaky but true) and learn an overview of our history.   We had a really good class today and I wanted to share with you some of the comments that people made about Connection.    We’re all in this together… THANK YOU for making Connection the place it is.   When people have these thoughts about Connection it makes it easier for all of us to point people to Jesus.
And thats why we do what we do…

  • I love the music.
  • Love this church — it rocks!
  • I feel at home.
  • What I love about Connection?  EVERYTHING!
  • Everyone was so welcoming to me.
  • I love the childcare programs for my children.
  • There is a lot going on — and I can be a part of it every day if I want!
  • My kids wanted to come back — so we’re here.
  • Children’s programs rock!
  • Good sense of community at Connection.
  • Spiritually — its very active.
  • Teaching — I always learn something.
  • I needed something in my life, so today is the 1st time I visited.
  • Connection is a real place.
  • I feel very comfortable here.
  • This church will take you in — and you will be loved.

Leadership Summit 2009

Connection Church was a satellite host for the Leadership Summit last week (Aug 6 & 7).   Our volunteers did an amazing job before, during and after the Summit — hosting over 300 people from 39 different churches.  We are so proud of our church!

Underone Youth Camp: GLOW

On Wednesday, Sue Favazza (THANKS SUE!) took the TamCam into the UnderOne youth service to capture our teens sharing what God did at camp last week.

Make no mistake…you’ll be challenged in your own relationship with God.

Next time you see a teenager — encourage them on to continue their race of faith…to continue strong.

Baptism

Baptism services are very special.   They are probably my most favorite kind of service.   People connecting to God makes my heart beat.   Baptism puts it into overdrive.    We get to hear first hand at what God has done and is doing in people’s lives.   These kind of changes point to one person… Jesus.

If you happened to miss the last baptism service — you missed one of the best ones we’ve had.     The looks on their faces will tell you the story.    We were all challenged to move forward in our faith…who doesn’t need that?!!!  See ya at the next one this summer!  (ht: Robert Alford for the pics!)

Live Like You Were Dying — a story after the message.

I have a cool story that I wanted to share.   Who doesn’t love a cool story?   The roots to this story come from a teaching series we did last summer Live Like You Were Dying and it started alot of conversation on our blog.    Whats even better than good dialogue?    When the dialogue turns into action.

Christa Alberts,  Christie Martin, Lisa Hildebrandt, Christy Frank, Liz Webb and Jamie Forsyth,  (prompted by the LLYWD series) had a conversation about wanting to take dance lessons.   And dance they did.  They met every Monday evening in a dance studio for months and learned a few numbers.    They took the stage a few weekends ago at a recital and well…I’ll let the pics do the talking.  Kudos to you girls!!
